Kalamazoo County election official agrees to certify election, ACLU drops lawsuit
KALAMAZOO, MI -- A Kalamazoo County canvasser has signed an affidavit stating he will will certify the November presidential election results, putting an end to a lawsuit against him.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) sued Republican Kalamazoo County Canvasser Robert Froman last week. The ACLU cited a Detroit News article where he allegedly questioned the validity of the 2020 presidential election and said he would not certify the 2024 election if it unfolded the same way.
Although he told the ACLU he didnt make the statements attributed to him in the Detroit News article, Froman refused to contact the paper and request a retraction, per the ACLU.
I may not, and will not, refuse to certify results of the election based on any information extrinsic to the statement of returns, the signed affidavit said.
