Plymouth Twp. supervisor-elect (R) accused of harassing poll worker on Election Night

The supervisor-elect of a western Wayne County suburb is accused of harassing a poll worker and voters on Election Day, asking multiple times for voter counts inside of an area he was not allowed to be in as a campaigner and candidate.

According to a police report from Plymouth Township Police, the incident happened in the afternoon of Nov. 5 outside the precinct at St. Kenneth Church on Haggerty Road and involved Chuck Curmi. Curmi was recently elected Plymouth Township's new supervisor after running unopposed. He defeated incumbent Supervisor Kurt Heise in a contentious August Republican primary.

The chairperson of the precinct told police that Curmi approached her while she was outside the precinct — well inside of the 100 foot line set up near precincts to indicate where campaigners are legally able to be — and asked how many people had voted at that precinct that day, according to the report.

The precinct chair told him that voter totals aren't provided to campaigners and said he needed to step back behind the cones set up to mark the 100 foot line, but Curmi repeatedly began to ask her for the voter count.

An (R) harassing a poll worker. Anywhere in America. Gosh, “they” don’t even seem nice. And I doubt they knew what their end game was supposed to be. Ignorance beats arrogance.

We live in a sleepy lil town. Lots of trumpers but no nonsense. My wife and I brought a big bowl of leftover Halloween Candy for our poll workers doing their thankless jobs. Our gesture was greatly appreciated by our neighbors. We got caught up on family and drought conditions and what’s going on with that old abandoned house down the west end of Main Street. Ya know. America. Very Nice. But thanks to trump, I’m very happy my wife and I are in our 70s. I apologize for the ramble.
