Minnesota House gains final 2 members in special election races that favor DFL, could restore tie

The Minnesota House could be politically split down the middle again after special elections in a pair of races Tuesday that favor Democrats.

Voting locations in both Twin Cities-area elections open at 7 a.m. and people in line by 8 p.m. can cast ballots.

One is in the eastern suburbs, District 47A, where only DFL nominee Shelley Buck will appear by name on the ballot. No Republicans filed in the race. Buck, a longtime Prairie Island Indian Community tribal council leader, would replace a DFL House member who won a Senate special election in November.

In St. Paul, the DFL candidate also has the edge based on electoral patterns in District 64A.
