Special election scheduled for next sheriff as STL city leaders clash over who gets to appoint interim replacement

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - The St. Louis Board of Aldermen is working on two separate processes to bring new leadership to the sheriff’s office.

After the removal of Alfred Montgomery, the city set a special election date, and the board plans to appoint a replacement next week.

“Our process is going to be open to the public,” said Alderman Rasheen Aldridge.

Alderman Rasheen Aldridge says the Board of Aldermen will have a transparent process for the city’s next sheriff, promising public hearings before a pick is made.
