Nebraska state troopers union says parts of Ricketts' report are 'reckless' and false

LINCOLN — Officials with the state troopers union charged Friday that some of the conclusions in a governor’s report about problems at the Nebraska State Patrol, particularly the union’s role, were “reckless” and untrue.

The president of the State Troopers Association of Nebraska hailed Gov. Pete Ricketts’ decision to fire the superintendent of the statewide law enforcement agency. But he said other aspects of the report unfairly tried to “shift the blame” for the patrol’s problems onto the union.

“This is an effort to shift direction and focus,” Peterson said. “It makes no sense to us, because we had attempted to highlight these (mismanagement) issues.”
