Wayne Democrats Announce Their Candidates for Mayor, Council-at-Large for the 2025 General Election

WAYNE, NJ – On the Democratic slate in this year’s election for Wayne mayor and council-at-large are two familiar faces and two newcomers.

Current Wayne Board of Education President Don Pavlak, serving in his 20th year as a school board trustee, will take on incumbent Republican Mayor Chris Vergano in the mayor’s race. In a statement released by the Wayne Democratic Club, they highlighted Palak’s service to the town, saying that he has “a proven record of service” to Wayne Township.

“Wayne has been my lifelong home, and I’m committed to its future," said Pavlak. "As Mayor, I will prioritize fiscal responsibility, public safety, education, and quality-of-life improvements while keeping taxes stable."

The statement said that Pavlak’s platform includes “responsible budgeting, supporting first responders, enhancing education, improving infrastructure, and fostering economic development."
