Casey Melvin Announces Run for Paterson Council-at-Large in 2026 Election

PATERSON, NJ - Paterson community leader and advocate Casey Melvin has officially announced his candidacy for Council-at-Large in the City of Paterson’s 2026 municipal election. In a Facebook video posted on March 18, Melvin shared his intent to run, emphasizing his commitment to making Paterson a better place.

“I want to do whatever I can do, within reason and respectfully, to make Paterson better than it is now,” Melvin said in his announcement. He encouraged residents to support his campaign, adding, “Last year, I came in fourth place out of 10. With your support and us working together, I’m looking forward to coming in, if not first, then second or third.”

In the 2022 Council-at-Large election, he secured 3,463 votes. Currently serving as the Field Operations Director at the Paterson Healing Collective, Melvin is widely recognized for his deep-rooted community activism, mentorship, and violence intervention efforts.

A lifelong Paterson resident, Melvin has dedicated his career to service, entrepreneurship, and advocacy. Founder of Simply the Best Barbershop, he created a space for mentorship and community engagement for over 25 years.
