https://www.cnbc.com/2023/07/11/north-carolina-is-top-state-for-business-led-by-workforce-economy-.htmlI live in Durham, and the explosion of growth in housing is quite evident in the Triangle area. The Triangle area is also one of the most politically liberal areas of the state. It encourages me to think Dems can take control of the State away from the Repubs which took over after the 2010 election. More educated people tend to be more liberal https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2016/04/26/a-wider-ideological-gap-between-more-and-less-educated-adults/, and the appeal of a more highly educated work force to business should yield a change in political dynamics if Dems could just motivate people to get out and VOTE.

(662 posts)Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Charlotte also tend to be "blue". But you don't have to go to far outside the cities to find the "red" country.

(10,158 posts)....these will have detrimental economic effects on that area. A lot of people don't want to live where voting is seen as a privilege and not a right, where women & girls just become reproductive slaves once they reach childbearing age, and where LGBTQ people are treated like pariahs.

Democrats are not turning out to vote. We saw it in the 2022 mid terms. There has been a turnover in the party leadership at the state level. The numbers are here. Turnout is critical.
