New Hanover County Elections Director announces immediate retirement, citing health concerns
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - The New Hanover County Elections Director, Rae Hunter-Havens, has announced her immediate retirement.
In a press release on Oct. 7, a spokesperson cited the retirement as due to “health reasons.”
This announcement comes just before early voting for the New Hanover County municipal elections begins on Oct. 16.
This also comes after Hunter-Havens came under scrutiny for her handling of absentee ballots during the November 2024 general election.
