Some Ohio National Guard members are being drployed on Tuesday 19 January 2026

snip-OHIO — The Ohio National Guard announced that about five members of the 1937th Support Detachment will be deployed to the U.S. Central Command to support Operation Spartan Shield."

snip-"There will be a call to duty ceremony for the soldiers at noon on Tuesday at the Maj. Gen. Robert S. Beightler Armory at 2825 W. Dublin Granville Rd. in Columbus.

According to the National Guard, Operation Spartan Shield is a U.S. Central Command contingency operation in the Middle East that "promotes security, enhances readiness and strengthens the ability to rapidly respond."

"While deployed, the unit will help manage the development, solicitation, awarding, administration, and closeout of U.S. government-contracted support in areas such as logistics, information technology, sustainment, and other specialized services that are needed within its theater of operations," The Ohio National Guard wrote in a release."
