NRA re-ignites debate, says OKC killing 'a wake-up call' to governor over constitutional carry

With a Twitter shot at Gov. Mary Fallin from the National Rifle Association Friday afternoon, the subject of constitutional carry rang to life again in Oklahoma, and the Broken Arrow senator who promoted the idea reiterated it might not be dead just yet.

The NRA reacted to news of a shooting incident at an Oklahoma City restaurant in which Alexander C. Tilghman, 28, fired a handgun into the eatery where a birthday party was in progress. He wounded a 39-year-old woman and two girls before being confronted by two men who had gone to their vehicles to retrieve handguns of their own.

Oklahoma City police said Juan Carlos Nazario, 35, and Bryan Wittle, 39, shot and killed Tilghman.

The NRA’s Twitter post featured an image with the words ARMED CITIZEN STOPS SHOOTING AT OKLAHOMA CITY RESTAURANT in all-caps red letters on a blue-background photo of a pistol in an inside-the-waistband holster. The Twitter entry read: “An #ArmedCitizen saved multiple lives last night in #OKC. We hope this serves as a wake-up call for @GovMaryFallin, who just two weeks ago vetoed a constitutional carry bill. Just another example of how the best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. #2A.”

1. This cherry-picking was not at all predictable

I mean, after all of the tens of thousands of gun deaths each year in the US, who could have predicted that the gun-sellers would trumpet an occasion of one gun-user killing another gun-user to prevent other gun-user-killings as a reason why everyone ought to patronize more gun-sellers?
