U.S. Senate considers designating site of 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre as a national monument

TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — The U.S. Senate National Parks subcommittee will hold a hearing Wednesday morning to consider designating the Greenwood district as a national monument.

If the historic legislation is passed, the site of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre will become the first national monument in Oklahoma.

Senators Lankford and Booker introduced S. 3543 to preserve the Historic Greenwood District’s legacy and prevent erasure.

The bill is being championed by the Historic Greenwood District-Black Wall Street National Monument Coalition, which submitted testimony for the hearing.

Seriously, what should be a no brainer -- will they find 10 senators with an R next to their name to allow this to go to a vote?

Pretty certain that at least one Senator from Oklahoma will vote NO.
