I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when the tragedy in OKC happened.

I had just moved back to Tulsa, and was in my new apartment unpacking. I was focused on getting a lot of the boxes unpacked and put away, as they were stacked everywhere. I had the stereo on and the radio station interrupted with the news. I immediately turned on the TV, and sat glued watching it in horror for several hours.

Finally, I got up and returned to unpacking, but stopped frequently to watch the news.

I couldn't believe such a thing could happen here in Oklahoma, right in the middle of the country. Later, I discovered I knew several people who lost friends and family members that day.

I will always remember that day. Thoughts and prayers to all who lost loved ones in OKC as well as other acts of terrorism.

Story with video on today's memorial ceremony in OKC:

When she was 2, I watched as the Branch Davidian compound was burning. Two years later, we tried to have a birthday party despite the tragedy in Oklahoma. We celebrate her birthday, but it is always low key anymore.
