Manheim Township Republicans set to lose major donors ahead of critical municipal election
Republicans in Lancaster Countys second-most-populated municipality will likely lose two deep-pocketed donors in this years election, one in which the partys majority on the board of commissioners is vulnerable and the terms of its three incumbent school board members expire.
Building a Stronger Pennsylvania, a GOP-affiliated political action committee, spent more than $170,000 to influence the 2021 and 2023 races in Manheim Township.
Meanwhile, Manheim Township Commissioner John Bear, also the PACs chairman since 2017, personally contributed some $73,000 to fundraising committees benefitting candidates in those elections.
But things have changed in the last two years.
Former state Sen. Ryan Aument, a co-founder of Building a Stronger Pennsylvania PAC, said he likely would dismantle the group and doesnt intend to raise or contribute to campaigns this year.
