Greg Perry wins North Charleston City Council District 1 special election

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — An election transpiring in the wake of a federal investigation into corruption on the North Charleston City Council, voters in District 1 finally turned the page Tuesday night.

Greg Perry walked away the victor in a crowded field of candidates, claiming 170 of the 400 voters who participated in the special election, according to unofficial results.

“I pledge to lead with integrity, honesty, and a relentless commitment to the people of District 1," Perry wrote on his campaign website. "We will not be overlooked. And we will not have to worry about receiving the fundamental services our neighborhoods and families deserve."

In a not-too-distant second place was Libby Tisdal, with 140 total votes.
