Fort Worth Mayoral Race Draws Eight Candidates for May Election

Texas’ fourth largest city, Fort Worth, will elect its mayor for the next two years on May 3, 2025 from a pool of eight candidates.

Current Mayor Mattie Parker will be running for a third consecutive term, having served in the role since 2021.

“Three and a half years ago I ran for Mayor because this is our home and the city we love. David and I are raising our family here, building our careers here, and feel strongly that this is our season to give back to our city,” Parker said in a statement. “My work as your Mayor is not done, and I’m more energized and excited than ever about what’s to come.”

Parker is an attorney by profession, but spent time as chief of staff for Mayor Betsy Price for five years running up to her own first campaign for mayor in 2021. Parker won a runoff election against Deborah Peoples in 2021 and won in a landslide victory in 2023.
