Morales declares victory in tight race for Seattle City Council seat

Incumbent Tammy Morales declared victory Monday, holding a slim lead over business-backed challenger Tanya Woo in the race to represent Southeast Seattle on the city council.

The conclusion of the daily count Monday showed Morales leading by 398 out of more than 25,500 votes.

Ballot counting will continue this week but there aren't many ballots left to count. A King County Elections official said that across all of King County, only 3,000 ballots remain to be tallied. The certification of the vote is scheduled for Nov. 28.

The Woo campaign did not respond to the Business Journal's request for comment Monday night.
