DOZENS FILE FOR LOCAL RACES IN CLALLAM COUNTY AS 2025 ELECTION SEASON BEGINS

PORT ANGELES — The candidate filing period for Clallam County’s 2025 election cycle closed Friday, with dozens of candidates entering local races for city councils, school boards, the Port of Port Angeles, and hospital commissioners.

Two contested races will shape the future leadership of the Port of Port Angeles. In Commissioner District 1, incumbent Colleen McAleer will face challenger Nate Adkisson. In District 2, Allen Sawyer and Steven Burke will compete in the general election.

In Hospital District 2 (Olympic Medical Center), several commissioner races are set for November — except Commissioner Position 7, which drew four candidates and will head to a primary. Mic Sager, Laurie Force, and Penney Sanders remain active in the race after Corlene Eberle withdrew.

For Position 1, Ann Marie Henninger and Gerald Stephanz Jr. will face off in the general election. Position 4 will be a contest between Carleen Bensen and Tara B. Coffin after the withdrawals of Laurie Force and Bertha Cooper.
