Former T-Mobile exec among challengers to Bruce Harrell in Seattle mayoral race

Joe Mallahan is back for a second run for Seattle mayor.

The former T-Mobile executive, who narrowly lost the 2009 mayoral race to Mike McGinn, is one of seven people running to unseat first-term incumbent Bruce Harrell. The candidate filing period ended Friday.

In his Thursday announcement, Mallahan attacked Harrell from the left, criticizing his support for a watered-down mechanism to fund the voter-approved Seattle social housing development authority.

The press release added Harrell "has badly mismanaged the police department. ... Even worse, sexual harassment and marginalization of women at City Hall has seemed to become pervasive in Bruce Harrell’s administration."
