Amazon spends more in WA than any other state

For Amazon, Washington is still the state it pours the most money into — but other states are starting to catch up.

Amazon has spent more than $400 billion in Washington since 2010, made through a mix of payroll and infrastructure investments. The company says those investments have driven more than $380 billion in state gross domestic product during that period, according to the company’s annual economic impact report released last week.

“Our presence in Washington began in 1994,” Amazon wrote. “Today, the state is a thriving innovation and logistics hub for Amazon.”

In 2025, Amazon said it spent more than $340 billion across the U.S., a chunk of that focused on the rapid buildout of infrastructure for artificial intelligence across the industry. Data centers, chips and power are all expensive, and Amazon is rushing to build and acquire them.
