Milwaukee is looking for more poll workers on Election Day

As Election Day approaches, the Milwaukee Election Commission (MEC) is seeking out more volunteers to work at polling locations across the city.

Poll workers—also dubbed election inspectors—wear a variety of hats on Election Day, including checking in registered voters, registering eligible voters and monitoring equipment.

A spokesperson for the MEC told the Journal Sentinel morning shifts have been filled and afternoon shift poll workers are being prioritized, adding that full-day shifts are still being considered as well.

The afternoon shift runs from 1 p.m. until closing procedures are completed, according to the MEC’s website. A full-day shift runs from 6 a.m. until the end of closing procedures.
