New Zealand spies knew about Donald Trump colluding with Russia in the lead-up to the extraordinary 2016 US election, an investigative journalist says.

Luke Harding is a Guardian journalist and author of Collusion, a new book exploring the US president's longstanding ties with Russia.

It was the evidence of European spy agencies and, according to one source, the Australians, that helped nudge an initially reticent FBI into investigating the Trump-Russia ties that continue to unfold.

Five Eyes intelligence partners, including the New Zealand Government Communications Security Bureau, were monitoring the meetings between Trump associates and "known and suspected" Russian agents in the year preceding the US election, Harding says.

flows, ANYTHING goes with the gop. No way would they investigate tRump, he is doing their bidding, getting tax laws passed. Of course they ALL knew what was going on behind the scenes. I hope when this mess is finally exposed, McConnell and Ryan go down with the tRump Titanic.

The November Frontline documentary about the Russian interference reported on Obama have Brennan and Clapper brief the "gang of 8" plus Judiciary ranking members on what Russia was doing. Obama wanted to tell Americans what was happening and sent the CIA/DNI to get Congressional leaders on board. Except McConnell and Ryan refused, saying instead that if Obama addressed Americans, they would say Obama was just trying to help Clinton win.

If that is not treason, I'm not sure what is. The Mueller investigation is getting, deservedly, plenty of coverage, but there's really no excuse for national media not to be pointing out just as often that McConnell and Ryan KNEW what Russia was doing BEFORE the election and not only chose to ignore it, but ACTIVELY planned to discredit the president who was trying to inform the rest of the America.
