not getting public health insurance but having to buy private insurance for healthcare. Doug Ford seems to be trying to privatize medicine and colleges (by reducing grants). Does Doug Ford know this just makes Canada more vulnerable to US?

4. Privatizing healthcare has always been a goal of cons, both federal and provincial...

that's not new, unfortunately. They hate that the 'common people' can get the same care as their rich donors and don't have to go bankrupt to get it.

With Smith, the difference is she is wants to go full bore with it while still continuing to get federal dollars coming in instead of being penalized as is the case now.

As to post secondary education, Smith has also reduced the provincial grants and increased the cost of student loans.

I can't say it enough, she is despicable and the sooner Albertans realize she is the female version of trump the better.

5. But was that Conservative push for private healthcare

a push for sinccing our economy to that of the US so we would be easy pickins' for US takeover all along? Public health care works. I remember going out to dinner with the family of a friend of my dad's in a restaurant. (My dad was naive and didn't know the guy's character. The guy was from the neighbourhood but 5 years younger than my dad. Dad soon found out when the guy stiffed a family friend who caterred for the man. My dad dropped him like a stone). Anyhow this one son was salivating about turning Canadian health care private. That was in the 1980s. We were disgusted but passive. We did not tell him off.

3. She's an opportunist, that's all

She put her finger in the wind, and sensed the anti-immigrant sentiment rising in Canada, something both Carney and Trudeau before him began to take notice of and shifted official Liberal policy on.

Smith, of course, is taking it even further, using immigrant scapegoating to fuel separatism and, she hopes, keep her in power.
