Why do people click on email attachments from someone they don't know?

Somebody brought her computer in after it got hit by Ransom virus. Good thing she called me BEFORE she plugged her external data backup drive in. 400 Mb of docs became .locky files.
2 hours later, all cleaned, tweaked, and good copies of her data files back in her Documents folder.
Oh well, easy money for me.
