3. OK, here goes. follow these steps.....

1. Control Panel > Folder Options > 'View' Tab. Check box 'Show hidden files and folders'

2. Open Firefox. Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks

3. Import & Backup menu >

[At this stage you could go two ways; restore backup or import from HTML. Either way, the following path will take you to the folder where these files should be]

Restore > Choose File (bottom of list of options) or

Import from HTML

In the file dialogue box navigate to this folder: (each step on new line below)

My Computer
C:
Documents and Settings
Your user name folder (ie not All Users)
Application Data (you wont see this unless you've turned on Hidden files and folders!)
Mozilla
Firefox
Profiles
tg0q37rz.default (thats the name of mine, yours will be different but similar)

------------
At this stage, if you've chosen Import from HTML, you will see in this folder a file called Bookmarks.html. Select it.

If you've chosen Restore, open folder 'bookmarkbackups and look for a JSON file in there.

Let me know how you go with this. I know it sounds complicated, but the files should be in your profile folder. Best of luck.

When you navigate through the Documents and Settings, application data....

See if you have two firefox profile folders. There should only be one. Maybe the update glitched and created a new profile and your old one is still there.

Could not follow your threads.
Did find bookmark backup files in several places using windows search. Just don't know what to do when I find the file.

No way I could make it any clearer. My bad.

Unfortunately, to do anything at all, you need to turn ON hidden files and folders and then find the Firefox profile folder as described. If your bookmarks and other customisations are gone, something has happed to your Firefox Profile. It's rare, but it does happen.

Maybe try printing out the directions and have a go at finding that folder. Or wait until you've had a few strong coffees.

9. Try this:

Feb 2017

Open Firefox
Press "Ctrl+Shift+B"
Click "Import and Backup">>"Import Bookmarks from HTML"
In the "File Name" box type: "%APPDATA%MozillaFirefoxProfiles" then click OK
A window will open containing profile folders.
Double-click the profile folder you wish to open. If you only have one profile, its folder would have "default" in the name.

I hope this helps

Found out the bookmarks tab on menu bar opens all bookmarks and allows an import from saved firefox file folder.
Instant gratification.
Now if I could just remember that the new time I inadvertently refresh and lose content.

DU bookmarks don't depend on the browser but only work on DU.
