(1) System Restore Roll back to before the update

(2) find your audio hardware in Control Panel and update the driver

(3) run Windows Update again (it sometimes fixes in layers)

I am a tech moron and hardly use my desk top and use my tablet mostly. When I turned it on after not using it for over a month it would not start and trouble shooting with windows 10 kept saying I had so and so options, one was to go to settings and lose everything except my files. Since I do not know anything about this I was determined not to do what it suggested since I would not be able to figure out what I did and would have to pay a person to come and fix it which I can't afford. After over 1 hour of turning it off and on repeatedly and hitting the "troubleshoot" and "fix the problem" buttons it ended up finding the problem somehow and fixed itself. I think it is a windows scam personally.

has not had an innovative product in over two decades. I was perfectly happy with Win 2000. I even make my desktop, etc. look as close to it as I can. I especially hated the Win XP standard interface, based on the default color scheme used, I called it "The Fisher-Price interface".

nothing wound up working (including a system rollback to a time before the upgrade) so I had to get Microsoft to remote into my system. They weren't able to fix it either until they downloaded a program called Driver Booster that provided two versions of the suspect sound drivers. I've got audio now...

7. My PC keeps telling me I need to update

And when I let that happen, it takes forever and tells me it didn't work. I have to sit through it removing all the changes and then it tells me I need to update. Lather, rinse, repeat and infinitum....any ideas. It's Windows 10 fix number 16900 or some such thing.
