UPDATE: How do you make OneDrive "run"? ----------I think it's a solution!

My Samsung android phone notified that their cloud is terminating in June and there are stages to transfer Gallery pics and who-knows-what to Microsoft OneDrive.
So after ignoring the messages for a couple of months, I followed what I could of the directions and supposedly all my stuff is in OneDrive. I *do* see some of the phone items over in the laptop, but more often than not all the pictures have a faded-out unenabled Cloud Icon on each one and when I click on them the error message is "Make sure that OneDrive is running and try again."
I've looked at a couple of Microsoft tutorials on OneDrive but can't get past (the above). I've signed into Windows account.
The whole OneDrive thing is a vast mystery to me. Here I am again, Group, any answers I can digest, please/ty.
********ON EDIT, the "solution" (for now) : All this time since supposedly having followed the phone's instructions (above), I had gotten spotty viewing of most of my pictures with most of them grayed-out and with a large gray X on each icon of them. Windows tutorials (granted I don't use them extensively) didn't do the job for me.
My documents were also somewhere in the OneDrive Cloud and not available to Open. Tonight got an Error message on a document and Googled the Error and there were pages of fixes for OneDrive from non-Microsoft techs. What I tried, didn't work. Then one item was SIMPLE: In the Search for MS Start, type OneDrive and click on the resulting app/OneDrive. It resets and suddenly the documents and pictures all got a checkmark in a little green circle, all AVAILABLE to Open!!!!!!!!!!

Since you have a Samsung, if it's not the restrictive Verizon network, you would still have bluetooth capabilities.
If you have bluetooth on your computer/laptop, you could also send them directly to it and bypass the email process.

(72,370 posts)Both the laptop and phone have Bluetooth. I'm totally low tech so am not getting what you said.
I've always used email attachments of phone pics to get them into the laptop's microsoft Publisher for editing then back to email to get the finished item into the phone's SD card.
So supposedly all phone stuff is now in onedrive but sometimes i can see it on the laptop and other times i get the "Run" error message with the unenabled Cloud icon. Which is why I'm asking how to Enable onedrive, not about Uploading.
******ON EDIT: On the phone, despite all the supposed transferring, all the Gallery and other features look the same as before.

Make sure you are using the same account/email to access OneDrive on each device.
