I would like to find software that will allow me to create a time-lapse of a webcam.
For example, a frame grab every 30 seconds for 24 hours.
Is there free software that might work?

(2,957 posts)Granted this isnt a software solution but a nice hardware solution on the cheap side. They have a camera under 30 bucks that I have used for just that purpose in a snow event.

(8,546 posts)If you have a PC you can dedicate to the task, you could display the webcam full screen and then do a desktop capture to a file. I am fairly certain that you can adjust the frame rate above 1fps (might depend on the VLC version) by setting it as a decimal fraction. I never tried doing super slow frame rates, so you might have to play with it to see what is (and isn't) allowed.
I haven't done any screen capture stuff with VLC for a long time, so things may be different in the more recent versions. Regardless, it is a handy program to have and it's free, so I thought it might be worth trying.
