Anybody use LineageOS on their Android phone?

I've been wanting to replace my old Cyanogenmod phone because of the t-mobile 3g phaseout, but I'm finding it all very confusing. I need an unlocked phone that I can put LineageOS (the successor to Cyanogenmod) on because I detest stock Android. It should be SIM and allow SD memory cards, but I don't care about cameras or graphic quality much. It should support Bluetooth and Wifi, but I assume most do these days. 4g LTE and up, obviously.

Can anyone recommend an (unlocked) model phone or suggest some resources? I installed the Cyanogenmod myself back in the day, so I know about rooting phones and I'm not afraid to risk bricking a phone.

However, I find most of what's written on lineageos.org to be word salad or walls of text, or at best muddled. I'm also having trouble searching Amazon for the model numbers given on lineageos.org as my searches usually return completely different phone models.

Sorry, I realise I'm not writing all that clearly myself right here, but I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I buy a lot of used phones from cellular country dot com. would recommend them over amazon. their stock changes fairly often so if they don't have what you want try again in a week or two.

I was not familiar with that site. Amazon hasn't been that useful lately anyway. Have you noticed that all their product reviews seem to rate 4.5 stars? It's all gamed, and search isn't much better.

BTW, LineageOS (and Cyanogenmod) are recompiles of the Android source code, but with all the annoying crap and branding removed. Ordinary phones (Android and iPhones) appear to constantly nag me to rate or do stuff or suggest things I don't want to do. Drives me nuts. The ringer volume changes on its own frequently and it even goes into Airplane mode without me telling it to.

I wound up ordering an old Pixel 3XL, which was the recommendation from slashdot.org for running LineageOS.

and I do get the random volume changes! drives me nuts. about to upgrade from a galaxy s5 to a 9 plus. woooo! might be able to deposit checks again. as opposed to driving 70 extra miles. that was a mistaken update issue. the update wasn't compatible with my phone. assholes. made me paranoid to update anything again.

how much to bet the sim card doesn't fit?

It could destabilize things. So I opted against it. I have no idea where it came from, if it was legit. It's all too complicated to me.

I'm a retired software engineer but modern phones are too complicated for me too. I just want something fit for purpose, i.e. calling, texting and listening to podcasts over bluetooth. It shouldn't be this much work.
