FORT MYERS, Fla. A woman in route to get her morning coffee was jolted awake with pounding on her front door she later discovered to be two alligators fighting in front of her home in Florida.
The video of the surprising encounter in Fort Myers was posted on Facebook last week by Susan Geshel. When she first saw the reptiles before 7 a.m., Geshel told The Fort Myers News-Press that one of the alligators had his snout pinned on her door while the other was stationed at a distance with its snout wide open.

(13,727 posts)Unlocking my car door (pre-historic era, when people still used car keys to unlock doors) one morning when I heard a loud "hissss." Jumped back, gator charged out from under my car, mouth wide open. Didn't know I could run so fast. Scared the you-know-what out of me.
I've had two acquaintances tell me they lost their small dogs to gators while walking them along the paths surrounding their condo complex's picturesque "lakes" (those huge water retention ponds created to drain water from the swamps on which these developments were built). Gators wait at the water's edge for a meal, then spring suddenly. Sad stories.
Huge Burmese Pythons are the latest thing people are finding hiding in their yards and under their homes down here. The state created a python hunting season to reduce their numbers. Welcome to Florida.
