A man from Florida who wagered $100 on President Donald Trump winning re-election last November is being sued for refusing to pay up.
Sean Hynes, a Trump supporter from St. Petersburg, Pinellas Count, suggested the bet via Facebook to Jeffrey Costa, an acquaintance from his time in Atlanta and a Biden supporter.

Although it started as a friendly wager, the relationship quickly turned sour when Trump lost to Biden on November 3.
Hynes refused to acknowledge the results and pay up. He was still in denial after several state recounts and the Supreme Court's rejection of lawsuits challenging Biden's victory.

(7,629 posts)when I suggested a third party hold the money they got all flakey. One old friend who moved to Floriduh and has lost his way said I want a piece of that. I said $100 bucks and he accepted. About three weeks from election he went radio silent on the bet or much Trump boasting. His son who lives near me said his dad had been up and he had said to him just go pay him as long as we're close. Anyhow not a peep after election. I of course would have mailed him a check on 11 4 2020 if it had gone the other way. Never said a word on facebook figured he wasn't going to pay. I said to myself you were willing to lose a hundred bucks, lose it where it will do some good. I donated to local foodbank. Lo and behold on 1 13 2021 I get a check from him dated 1 6 2021. He really believed Trump was gonna get corronated.up until then. I'm gonna donate that to foodbank also.
