Man, my daughter is powerful and I am so proud of her.

She's brilliant, strong, fearless, confident and would eat some of the people on this site that call themselves "radical feminists" for lunch because she knows just how small-minded and shortsighted they actually are.

I wonder what wave she will be. Wait, I take it back. She isn't a wave. She IS the damn water.

unlike anonymous online words. So of course you feel that way.

The rest of us, unfortunately, have only your word for it.

Just as we have only words giving us constant redefining of the various flavors of feminism and every other form of activism out there. Personally, I rarely know if someone is trolling, has poor writing skills, or just had too much to drink when I see some of the screeds I see here and elsewhere. I don't know what they really do or think in real life, how they express themselves, how they interact, or anything else about them except the words.

On Mon Mar 10, 2014, 12:37 PM an alert was sent on the following post:

Man, my daughter is powerful and I am so proud of her.

REASON FOR ALERT

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS

Well it's great to be proud of a daughter, but why on earth would one have to compare her to and tear down people on this site? This is rude and insensitive. Can you imagine if a woman said she was proud of her powerful son and would eat the lunch of the Men's Right's Activists here on this site? Come on, this is just over the top.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Mon Mar 10, 2014, 12:46 PM, and the Jury voted 2-4 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: While I am glad that they are proud of their daughter, there are many other ways this could have been posted. There is no need to be so rude and insensitive to what they call "radical feminists" on this site.
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Agree that post is positive and supportive in overall tone, HOWEVER- no need to degrade and be negative about DU'er's . Glad daughter is strong - we need those types - but be more positive about those on site willing to stick their necks and principles out. It's not a competitive site and not needed.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Sorry no hide from me. Congratulations on your beautiful Daughter Bonobo. Alerter, use ignore and quit trying to mold DU in your image.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Let's see what happens with this instead of shutting it down.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Jesus Tap Dancing Christ

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

"Can you imagine if a woman posted that?" Sure I could, it wouldn't and shouldn't be hidden either. That's like implying someone who said their kid would eat a Republican's lunch would be chastised.

Or did the person who originally saw the OP and wanted to originally alert was in fact, the real alerter?

Looks like a case for Encyclopedia Brown!

Oh shit I don't have a clue. Why the hell am I in the men's group? The last group I accidentally fell into blocked me. All I know is there was no way in hell I was going to hide Bonobos post.

I'm not sure it's a pejorative as the alerter assumed as many self identify as such, but certainly for some variations it is and some who have self-identified as radfem are decidedly shitbags and are polar opposites yet equal to the worst sort of anti-feminist shitbags. Whether they self-identify or not and whether it's a pejorative or not, given the definition of radical feminism, many on this site certainly seem to have made it their life's mission to promote that ideology.

Singing her praises. I watched several hours of Women's history on a PBS station yesterday and felt a part of the struggle. That struggle bears little resemblance to the rabble of which you speak but shall remain unnamed.
