I want to ban the word "sensitive".

I want to ban the word sensitive for boys and men.

Silly? Well tell me this: Why is it that when a boy or man shows human empathy, he is called a "sensitive boy/man".

Do you ever hear girls being called "sensitive" if they display that level of humanity? No, it is just assumed to be normal.

So my solution? Ban the word. That will solve the problem.

I mean I don't necessarily take it as having an inherent bad or good connotation, but I'm pretty literal with language.

What should we call such a boy, to distinguish him from WDM's tooth?

or some such with a sensitive kid. Then you can make your statement an attack on the people who didn't know sensitive was on our new list of words to ban. First rule of new DU is that the language police are always on attack.

Being sensitive to others' feelings and needs? (Nearly) always a good thing.

Being sensitive to any criticism or perceived slight? Generally not good.

But otherwise I agree with your main point. Empathy/sympathy should be expected of any decent human.

when used to describe a man.
It's probably one of the most socially ostracizing And emasculating things one can say.
