Leslie Morgan Steiner was in "crazy love" — that is, madly in love with a man who routinely abused her and threatened her life. Steiner tells the harrowing story of her relationship, correcting misconceptions many people hold about victims of domestic violence.

There's her TED talk, and a link to her interview on one of our local NPR stations. I heard the interview this afternoon and was fascinated by her insights. Not that much was new, but she made it all a bit clearer than usual. Particularly why she stayed in it so long.

I'm posting this here partly because I think it's important for us to reinforce our abhorrence of domestic violence and partly in the past when I've posted this sort of thing in a feminist group I've occasionally gotten less than positive reactions for some reason I don't fully understand.

1. What insights did you take away from the talk?

My video is malfunctioning, tends to stop and repeat.

I am curious. Does she carry concealed, now? Did she arrange to legally expose the pistol during the talk?
