T-Mobile raises minimum wage to $20 an hour amid labor crunch

T-Mobile US Inc. (Nasdaq: TMUS) has raised its minimum wage to $20 per hour, following a trend of large corporations raising base pay to counter labor shortages.

The policy shift will cover the Bellevue-based company's U.S. employees, though a "vast majority of our employees already earn well above this level, especially when including incentive pay," CEO Mike Sievert said in a blog post last week announcing the move.

"But this move is about inclusion, and we wanted to draw a line that ensures no employee is left behind," he said.

T-Mobile has 75,000 employees companywide with over 8,000 in Washington.

Could always use the money, but wouldn't mine a real job. Just has to be for no more than 2 days and only on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
I retired from my real job 20 years ago and have had many part time jobs that didn't pay sh*t, so I had no problem telling them to shove it.
My main, among many other, side gig requires me to be free on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

I work for an electric utility with various apprenticeship programs (lineman, substations, meters, etc.). They still want apprentices to start at $16 an hour for the first year AND have a CDL drivers license. Granted after about 8 years they’ll be topped out on the payscale at around $45 an hour but still, it’s a big ask to get someone to come onboard for almost nothing to start.

$18 an hour is basically minimum wage in my area of Florida judging by the fast food and convenience store hiring signs.
