Kellogg's workers win big raise at Cheez-It plant

By Lindsay Moore | lmoore@mlive.com

OMAHA, Neb. — Kellogg’s workers at a Cheez-It plant won a new contract with a substantial pay bump.

Workers at the plant in Omaha, Nebraska plant won a raise of more than 15% wage increases over three years, according to the Associated Press. The new wage and benefit package will apply to 570 workers.

The Nebraska plant was among the four Kellogg’s facilities that had workers walk out in October. The flagship plant in Battle Creek had 325 workers on the picket line.

Workers pushed back on a legacy tier system that the union argued kept workers at a lower pay and benefit level for too long. The fight became heated after the cereal company started posting job openings to replace the striking workers.
