Employees at Starbucks in Lower Nazareth Township who chose to picket outside the store on Wednesday said they will return to work on Thursday.
Today was only intended to show our support for the national strike in support of LGBT rights and contract negotiations, Rhea Pitt, a spokesperson for the employees, said.
The weeklong national strike being called the Unfair Labor Strike with Pride protest began over the weekend to coincide with LGBT Pride celebrations. In total, some 120 stores participated, according to reports by The Associated Press. Only about 20 locations were actually forced to close, however, the report said.
Pitt said the Lower Nazareth Township location was not required to close because strikebreakers were called in to keep the store running on Wednesday. A Starbucks representative confirmed some employed parties chose to work in the store on Wednesday.
