The Hidden Crisis Destroying Russia's Army - Paul Warburg

Russia's military is struggling to find recruits. The only way to convince people to join their war against Ukraine is to offer them excessively high military recruitment bonuses and salaries. But these efforts, while a short term fix for producing manpower, have an effect on the quality of Russia's soldiers that Russia may not have properly anticipated. And with a declining Russian economy, these payments can't be kept up forever. What happens next?

I just sent this to a guy I know who served out at Fort Irwin in the late 1980’s. The unit at Irwin was OP4 they were the U.S. Army version of the Warsaw pact.

And they the OP4 were good at what they done.
Speaking from experience they gave us a run for our money kicked our light infantry asses in simulated contacts in lessons in our own weaknesses. Just in case Warsaw pact ever came west into NATO.
Our people in OP 4 are much more professional than the Russian army.
The 1980’s OP 4 was probably the most effective training tool our army had and the soldiers who served in it much respect.

Is that Ukraine is a meat grinder and the Russian populace knows that. They aren’t going to willingly send their sons into that.
