Related: About this forumRussia in Lethal Trap: Does Putin Realize It? People Devastated. Trump Steps Back - The Russian Dude
Russias war economy has spiraled into a lethal trap of its own making, with Putins regime spending more on destruction than on its own citizens survival. In 2024, Moscow overshot its military budget by 25%, and by 2026 war costs are projected to hit 17 trillion rublesan unsustainable fifty billion rubles every single day. The so-called National Wealth Fund is nothing but IOUs and failing state company bonds, while banks are forced into a Ponzi scheme of buying government debt with citizens deposits. Every ruble is diverted into missiles and funerals instead of hospitals, schools, or infrastructure, leaving the population financially devastated and emotionally crushed. Investigative journalists describe a growing depression across Russian cities, where people see Putin as eternal and resistance as pointless. Meanwhile, Putin parades global prestige through talks with Trump, who himself steps back from peace negotiations, leaving Russia locked in endless debt, endless war, and endless decay. This is the story of Russia in a lethal financial and political trapone that even Putin may no longer be able to escape.

(245 posts)1. Can't happen too soon. Wonder what will be the next regime. Could be worse?

(126,256 posts)2. The one thing that I've read about Putin is that he fears nuclear war. Perhaps, that is the only thing that has kept
him from using nuclear weapons on Ukraine. If the leader of the next regime doesn't have that fear, then it certainly could be worse.
My apologies for ending/starting your day with such a downer note.
