Ministers say Israel close to retaking Gaza, Hamas leaders’ days are numbered

Security cabinet members Gilad Erdan, Yoav Gallant, and Israel Katz call for targeted killings of terrorist group’s leaders

Israel is coming close to retaking the Gaza Strip and should assassinate the leaders of terrorist group Hamas, senior Israeli ministers said Wednesday.

Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan said that Israel is “closer than ever” to re-occupying the coastal enclave and “must move from defense to offense,” which he clarified means “targeted killings of the terrorist leaders of Hamas’ military wing.

“And it means being willing to capture and hold the Gaza Strip, until we dismantle the terrorist infrastructure,” said Erdan, a member of the security cabinet, speaking at the Jerusalem Post Diplomatic Conference in the capital.

“Today, we’re closer than ever since the disastrous disengagement plan to being forced to recapture parts or all of the Gaza Strip,” he said, referring to Israel’s withdrawal from the coastal enclave in 2005.

Israeli Cabinet minister: Gaza leader's days are numbered

By ARON HELLER, ASSOCIATED PRESS JERUSALEM — Nov 21, 2018, 7:06 AM ET

A senior Israeli Cabinet minister on Wednesday threatened to kill the leader of the militant Hamas movement ruling Gaza, vowing that another "large campaign" looms in which Israel will hit the militants hard.

Housing Minister Yoav Gallant, a former military general who commanded the Gaza region, said Hamas leader Yehiyeh Sinwar should "recalculate his route" before the next engagement.

"Yehiyeh Sinwar's time is limited. He will not end his life in an old folks' home," he said, at the Jerusalem Post Diplomatic Conference. "He has to behave himself."

Israel and Hamas recently stepped back from the brink of their fourth war in a decade thanks to an Egyptian cease-fire.

Gilad Erdan is one of those that proposed a law that would allow Israel to censor Facebook and google if they had content that they deemed to be 'a security threat' on their sites. Far right wing loons.

Erdan has supported boosting ties between Israel and Evangelical Christians,[5] as well as presenting bills to enforce no-smoking laws,[6] permanently revoking the driving licenses of serial traffic offenders,[7] and allowing the courts to revoke citizenship for "disloyalty to the state".[8] Prior to submitting the latter bill, Erdan was involved in a spat with Israeli Arab MK Azmi Bishara. During a meeting of the Knesset Law and Constitution Committee to discuss a similar proposal by NRP MK Zevulun Orlev, Erdan interrupted a Bishara speech by shouting "Why don't you just go back to Syria?" in reference to Bishara's trip there the previous summer. Bishara responded by saying "Why don't you just go fuck yourself?" creating an uproar in the committee.[9]
