Criticizing Israel Isnt Anti-Semitic. Heres What Is
...Omar has criticized the U.S. governments support for Israeli actions that break international law. And shes spoken out against the role money in politics plays in shoring up that support.
Neither is anti-semitic.
What is anti-semitic is the cacophony of mainstream media and politicians saying that criticizing U.S. policy toward the state of Israel is the same as attacking Jewish people.
Like most American Jewish youth, I grew up knowing Israel....

I have found the vilification of Ilhan Omar here terrible..
I have thought of making a post here about my fuller view of the situation, but so far have been able to resist.

You didn't make it very clear with the "from Juan Cole" comment.
There is a lot historically wrong in the piece.

(3,386 posts)Ilhan Omar wasn't called out for criticizing Israel for the simple fact that she didn't criticize Israel. Instead, she attacked the people who support Israel using classic antisemitic tropes. Congress supports Israel because it's "all about the Benjamins," isn't a critique of Israel. It's accusing her fellow Representatives of taking bribes. It's playing the Jewish Money and Jewish Power cards. The crack about allegiance to a foreign country was playing the Dual Loyalty card. That's why people are pissed. Marc Lamont Hill wasn't attacked because he defends Palestinian rights, but because he denies Jewish rights, like the right of self determination (the right to have a country). Ms. Gertler is apparently so far out on the rabidly anti-Israel Left that she agrees with them, so she papers over their antisemitism. Sick and disgusting.
