Did you see the SNL Dave Chapelle AIDS joke? (Insert Eddie Murphy laugh noises here.)

If this “once in a lifetime” comic genius and social commentary guru thinks AIDS jokes are funny well — fuck you. His comprehension of diversity, equity and inclusion is shit.

"Hey, these are the jokes, ladies and germs."

I think they cloned him and left some good stuff out.

Chapelle has a great mind. Too bad he’s decided to use it to be a great homophobic asshole.

As any gay man who held his 33 year-old husband in his arms as he died, can attest.

Dave Chapelle. Such a funny guy. Such an epic asshole.

(Not directed at you, pattyloutwo. AIDS jokes always make me furious. 🤬 )

I admit I never got the whole Chapelle phenomenon, not having had access to his show way back when, but now I realize I didn't miss much. And his chain-smoking ON SET during the monologue absolutely nauseated me.

or Anti-Anything that you have to clutch pearls over. It's more - stupid people asking stupid questions. Anything other than that, is *you* reading more into it than is actually there.

Do we need to explain comedy/satire along with social democracy? Do we really have that kinda time with having to really step up and fight Corona/COVID-19?

Come down off the cross, people need the wood to build a bridge...

You can disagree with comments, posts, and the like here, but your post is the epitome of disrespectful. You do NOT come into a group dedicated to the LGBT people and 'splain' to us what is or isn't acceptable in our world, especially in the manner in which you did it. You do NOT come into this group and use oft-homophobic tropes such as "clutching pearls" to criticize us. You do NOT come to our safe space and talk down to us. You do NOT come into the LGBT group and tell gay/bi men, lesbian/bi women, or transwomen/men and tell us to "come down off the cross" because YOU disagree with what WE find homophobic (or transphobic).

So, again, as a host to this group, I am going to ask you to reword or outright delete (I suggest that one) your post.

AIDS deaths aren’t funny. A legitimate “teachable moment” isn’t formulated upon ridicule or trivialization (or homophobia).

I find it as offensive as trump calling dead veterans “losers” and “suckers”.

Have some fucking respect.

... in his community of Yellow Springs OH during an interview by David Letterman there.

It was on S03E03 of the Netflix show, "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman". I watched it yesterday.

Article about it:

It's probably the most liberal community in all of Ohio, an island in a sea of right-wingers. (I live pretty close to it, but sadly most stuff is more expensive there.)

I think Chappelle likes to push the boundaries of comedy as much as possible, and he badly wiffs sometimes.
