Hedge fund CEO and billionaire biotech investor Joseph Edelman and his wife provided a $1 million donation to help launch Do No Harm, a new conservative advocacy group pushing anti-trans legislation in statehouses across the country, HuffPost has found.

Do No Harm bills itself as a group of doctors who are concerned about ideology influencing the medical profession. The organization has not disclosed its donors or fundraising, but tax filings for the Edelman Family Foundation, which Edelman founded and chairs with his wife Susan Lebovitz-Edelman, show that the foundation approved a $1 million donation to Do No Harm in 2022, the same year the activist group was founded.

In the year since, Do No Harm has hired lobbyists or sent advocates to half a dozen statehouses and provided the model language for at least two bills restricting gender-affirming care that have become law. The group has also filed a handful of lawsuits against efforts to promote diversity in medicine.

Edelman is founder and CEO of Perceptive Advisors, a New York-based biotech hedge fund with more than $8 billion in assets under management. His home is an oceanside Orange County mansion he purchased for a record-shattering $70 million after trading in his 10,000 square-foot Park Avenue penthouse. Forbes estimates his net worth to be $2.5 billion.

... but for the life of me, I can NOT figure out why self-righteous squillionaires can't keep their sanctimonious snouts out of other people's business. When narrow-minded Kkkonservatives go off on the gender identities of folks they've never even met, I ask them:
Do you know why men have nipples? No, it is not a non sequitur.
Here's the elevator pitch: At conception, ALL humans – indeed, all mammals – are FEMALE. The Y chromosome appears further along in the gestation period, sometimes sooner, sometimes later. There is variability in every aspect of fetal development. EVERY aspect. This includes the brain, and how sexual preferences may manifest themselves. So yeah, people are born gay – or trans – all the time.
For all the über-Christians, out there, this is rock-hard, irrefutable SCIENCE. Deal with it.

BOTTOM LINE: Mind you own fucking business, Edelman, and do something worthwhile with your wealth, instead of trying to ruin the lives of people that never did anything to you.

They look at the way most people live. And then, the way they live - plus the billions stashed in the Caymans and such - so they feel like gods among ants.

It naturally follows that a such a being should call all the shots.

At first, as you know, it was over taxes and regulations: Tons for thee; none for me (or almost).

But before long, they started taking it upon themselves to dictate what goes - and doesn't - even as far as personal lives and choices.

After all, the ants couldn't possibly know what's best for them. That's what the gods are for.

....from discrimination, harassment, unlawful termination and more. See, after achieving some level of (usually) financial success, many a business person lets that success go to their heads, simply meaning, the 'god' complex as noted. Only they know best, only they have the right ideas, only they assume they know it all! Funny how making money transforms so many into experts on all things!

It prevents social advancement and slows necessary changes for improving society.

We allow a few very filthy-rich people to accumulate and own a vast wealth, usually through inheritance. Then those filthy-rich control our nation's social, political and economic lives with their wealth.

His father was a brilliant scientist. He not so much. But he's good at making money and forcing his outdated and abusive politics onto people. Thank America's worship of capitalism.
