The Best and Worst U.S. States for People With Disabilities
by Irma Wallace | Jan 8, 2025 | Health Infographics
People with disabilities must consider a unique set of factors when choosing a new state to move to. The team at AAA State of Play tried to make the decision easier with a series of graphics taking a range of factors into account, allowing them to rank every state on how disability-friendly it is.
All of these factors helped the team rank every state in the country. Colorado came out on top as the most desirable for disabled people to live in, and Mississippi ranked as the worst place to live in, with the lowest scores. The charts are rich with details that could help someone determine where theyd like to live.

(12,269 posts)3. I'm surprised TX scored this high,
considering it didn't expand Medicaid & thinks a high priority for the TX lege is to ban "furries" from schools.

(294 posts)4. TX better than NY? No way
TX is a scary place if you're disabled. No one would help my sister, except for our family.
If I ever become disabled I have a plan to move to Illinois.
