And, I suppose, there is a difference between the Cov and Covid designations.

(96,043 posts)The much more lethal item which appeared earlier would be SARS-CoV-1. This current thing meets the standard of 'sudden acute respiratory syndrome' in its action, and is also a corona-class virus. Whether is some other relation between the two is beyond my knowledge.
