Hives!

Hi, Y'all! I hope everyone reading this is well and happy. For myself, I'm in a pickle. I got my Bivalent Moderna shot and decided to get my flu shot at the same time. I was marginally ok for the first four days but then the itching started.

I've had hives before and after a couple of days they went away with no special treatment except Benadryl. This is day three and there's been no end in sight. Plus, the Benadryl is making me wobbly and dragging my already historically low blood pressure, down even further.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had this side effect from either injection. I'm looking for suggestions. Should I just wait it out? As you can imagine it's pretty miserable but the Benadryl does help.

Don't take the Benadryl orally.

to your PCP, he or she may have relief ideas for you but they should probably know what you are experiencing

I got hives once just on my neck and that is how I discovered I had developed a shellfish allergy. Hives are considered a strong reaction. See a doc now.

4. My husband started getting hives every night back in June. His doctor said for some reason they are

seeing more people with hives recently. His didn't seem to be connected with a Covid vaccine. He was taking Benadryl for them but hated the way the Benadryl made him feel. The doctor told him to get "Allegra Hives". It is over the counter. It works way better than the Benadryl without the side effects. They are 24 hour. Take one every night before going to bed.

Better to be safe. I used to get mild gives on my legs years ago, but they stopped. Best you report this asap

While you can be allergic to anything at any time, I don't think the vaccines did it to you, those would have provoked a reaction in hours.

You're going to need to list any medications you take on a daily basis as well as foods you ate before the itiching started and have eaten since then. You'll probably need a low dose steroid to clear the bumps and some guidance about testing any daily medication to see if it's the culprit. You'll want to let the prescribing doctor know what's going on, also, but ER/UC will get you seen faster.

Good luck tracking this down. Vaccines are a remote possibility, but definitely mention those, also.
