Related: About this forumDarn it, after 4 years of outwitting it, Covid caught up with me.
Monday my sister came over to watch college football with us. Around 3 pm she started getting chills and went home. She has a walker and I always help her by taking it out and putting it bank in her car. It took me a few minutes to realize I needed to wash my hands and wipe down the end table she used. 26 hours later, I had the same symptoms. At first I thought it was the flu. We (dear husband, sister and I) are all vaxed and boosted. The minute something becomes available I make an appointment for all of us. This morning I took a Covid test, it was positive. Thankfully, husband who has serious health issues tested negative and has no symptoms. My sister and I have chills, runny nose, fever, and stuffed nose. I called my primary care Drs office he and the nurse practitioner are out until Monday. I made an online appointment with CVS Minute Clinic for late this afternoon. Meanwhile I was feeling so crappy I signed up for a telescope call. One time typically call you 2 hours after the credit card clears. 3.5 hours later it was time for my Clinic live appointment. Amazingly I was seen on time and efficiently. After reviewing my symptoms and meds, looking in my ears, nose and throat, and taking my BP and listening to my heart he gave me the prescription and told be to pick it up in the drive through. In about 1.25 hours all told, I was home and took my first dose. Oddly, it seemed to make me feel better to move around. Symptoms been going in waves all day from medium severity to medium low severity. Just the stopped up nose driving me crazier. 😉
All tips are welcome!

(3,511 posts)Im also vaxxed, except for the last one. 5 days of feeling bad with chills and aches. I was very very thirsty all the time. Drank lots of ice water and tea. Just had to ride it out. Nurse friend recommends gargling with warm salt water. It did seem to help.
Sleep as much as you can. Dont push it.
2 weeks later and Im still napping, but otherwise ok. I hope you have an easy time.
FWIW, three people I know who took paxlovid felt better at first quite quickly but then had a minor relapse after many days.

(3,511 posts)who shared the virus with me had very much the same suite of symptoms in the same sequence as I had, but a little less severe and for a shorter time, until her brief relapse. We both had several days of two steps forward and one step back. As she is not only over 90 but also a cancer survivor, we were worried for her, and very relieved at her recovery. Sleep was the best thing!

(18,591 posts)husband hasnt caught it and being super careful to make sure he doesnt. If he didnt have memory issues he or I would have gone to a hotel to wait it out.

(3,511 posts)That must make everything much harder.
My sisters husband is nearly 99 and his memory is shot. He doesnt understand masks or anything else about the pandemic of course, but he is still getting around and is still quite charming. Keeping him safe has been a constant challenge.
Please take care of yourself as much as you can.

(521 posts)Both times very minor runny/stuff nose the first day, then I have felt perfectly normal after that. First time it took 14 days to get a neg test, the second time 5 days to a neg test. Yes vaxed.
