Related: About this forumI guess I need to go get my hearing checked. I was told by an acquaintance that he gets hearing aids
From Costco. My question is this, should I go to a real ear Dr. or are the hearing specialist techs at Costco good enough? I have Medicare too.

(15,687 posts)They also have more affordable hearing aids. I ordered Lexie brand from Costco online. Around a $1,000 delivered. I like them. Lexie uses Bose sound.
Edit to add: they are rechargeable and can be linked to your iPhone.

Wonder Why
(4,589 posts)your disability doesn't have to be related to your hearing problems. Back in '03, I didn't know that and bought good aids. The same year I put in for the VA and said I had a service connected issue and they gave me 20%. My first meeting with my VA doctor went well and at the end he asked if I had any other issues. I told him I had just bought hearing aids and he said that with 20% they were free. Since then, I've used VA aids and hearing tests.

(13,386 posts)(Caveat) Some people have hearing difficulty that cannot be corrected by aids. My MD ent told me mine was such. I went to Costco and when through the routine. She told me the Costco aids wouldn't help. I tried three of them. She and the M.D. were right.
