You probably got your MMR dose(s) as a child and protection *can* fade with time, especially w/r/t Mumps.
If you have easy access to a doctor you should be asking to get re-upped.

My doctor informed me recently that MMR protection *may* wear off over time, especially with respect to Mumps. Measles and Rubella protection generally lasts a lifetime but with these diseases re-emerging in the US you may want to consider getting MMR again. While you can.

(98,282 posts)1. For adults they usually do a titer to see if you still have immunity since
you are dealing with a live vaccine, and if you still have antibodies they wont need to vaccinate.

(108,924 posts)2. CDC has long recommended a second dose for international travelers, HCWs, those exposed,
those considered at high risk (similar factors to high risk for COVID-19), those who received inactivated vaccines between 1963 and 1967 specifically, as well as those born after 1957 before the previous time period.
But, it certainly can't hurt to receive it even if you are not among the groups above.
