They said I was "too well" for re-hab place.

So here I am at home, feet too swollen to walk, half dressed as it hurts too much to put something on, can’t speak - lost my voice sometime in that week in the hospital for spinal fushion .. and without the assistance of my exhausted , 2 heart attack, 82 yr old husband to cook, bring meds, etc I don’t know what I would do!

Thanks Aetna advantage.!

It's at least worth a try.

Medicare Advantage is a scam. I have straight ol' plain Medicare. I know it's risky these days, but Advantage(any kind) is worse.

Could you go to the emergency room? I’m wondering if after they see you they would admit you to the hospital and then possibly another stay at rehab since you have complications.

My sister had a spinal fusion a year ago. After release she had extreme pain so I took her to the emergency room and they gave her a shot of extremely strong meds after which her oral pain meds could then keep up with the pain. The doctor explained if the pain gets too bad oral pain meds can’t control it but after shot then they can maintain.

Keep us posted and sending you healing vibes!

Just remembered that once admitted in the hospital you have a legal right to appeal if you think you are being released too soon. The staff explained that to my husband each time he was in the hospital. 🩷

The docs mean well but they focus on the one part they worked on and forget their is a whole person and a family situation attached to that and there are other and broader needs. The social workers are better advocates for your situation. Your PCP practice may also have one that can help. Wish you the best.

How much ground I’ve lost in just one week. Yikes! Of course most of that time I spent in bed taking tons of God knows what kind of drugs. And me, (usually sooo careful about everything I take checking all side effects, etc )just swallowing and gobbling them all up.by the little cup full.

At 81, after hours on general anesthesia it’s no wonder I woke up on the couch(can’t get in and out of bed due to super painful shoulder) this morning thinking my husband had just been in saying we were leaving on a trip to Galena. Il in a few hours!! Of course, when I asked him about the trip a few hours later… it never happened.

I’m so out of it, physically and mentally, I really could have used a few days in a good rehab place and Tom could have used a break, too.
I belong to a State retiree plan and this is what they gave us. It happened the one time we made a huge mistake and let a republican governor in!
